Named after the famed gathering of the Puritans, pilgrims, and in some cases Native Americans with a celebration of comradery in the early 1600s, Plymouth in the modern day, Massachusetts became forever linked with the holiday of Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving celebrated a good harvest after the common tradition of fasting. In 1941, the United States formalized the Thanksgiving holiday to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November.

Today Thanksgiving has become the gateway to Black Friday, the holiday spirit of giving as well as a time of expression of gratitude. It can be a time to pause and reflect on the bounties for yet another passing year. For many, it is a day off of a work.
